 Ecocert's ESR Label
In order to distribute more and more products of the different cooperatives, it was decided to get the ECOCERT ESR label on all the products.
This certification does not change anything of what was set up during all these years for ethic trade. However, this new label given by a state recognized organism, makes the products known as fair trade on a national and European level.
This organization was chosen among others for its seriousness and its requirement specifications which are in line with the values applied during all these years.
The four main criteria of the referential of this label are:
- Social Responsibility
- Solidarity
- Environmental Responsibility
- Transparency of information and respect for consumers
The referential of Ecocert ESR is based on a fair sharing of benefits.
The ESR supports fair trade that initiates a process of structuring and proves the viability of alternative approaches to conventional rules of international trade. Ethical trade validates its ability to help number of artisans, peasants, rural and urban workers, to improve their situation by providing a patch, modest for now, to the global phenomenon of falling prices of agricultural raw materials.
The meaning of the ESR approach is to combine local trade and sustainable development and, at the consumer level, to provide guarantees on:
- The characteristics of channels
- The modes of production
- The efficiency and effectiveness of the approach
- A clear and detailed information
- Proof that the products available are those that have been certified compliant
This ESR label, which appears on each product of “Arc en Sels” coming from Burkina Faso, for now, allows the consumer to be assured by an official body, recognized at least in Europe, of the respect for producers and consumers.
